CR39 Solid Polarized Lens

Polarized lenses are lenses that only allow light from a specific polarization direction to pass through. Due to their light-filtering effect, wearing them makes things appear darker. To filter the glaring light that reflects off water surfaces, land, or snow in a horizontal direction, a special vertical coating is applied to the lenses, which are then called polarized lenses. They are most suitable for outdoor activities such as sea activities, skiing, or fishing.

    What is CR-39?

CR39 (Columbia Resin 39) is a type of plastic polymer material commonly used in the manufacture of eyeglass lenses. It was identified in the 1940s by chemists at the American Columbia Company as the 39th material in a series of polymers developed by the U.S. Air Force, hence the name CR-39. From 1955 to 1960, it was used to produce corrective lenses and became the first generation of ultra-light, impact-resistant resin lenses.

CR-39 is a thermosetting material, meaning that once it is produced and shaped, its form cannot be altered through heating. CR-39 does not deform below 150°C and has good water and corrosion resistance, but it is not resistant to strong acids, making it very suitable for producing aspheric lenses.

CR-39 resin lenses are an ideal lens material that is ultra-light, impact-resistant, and offers high light transmittance and strong impact resistance. Although its abrasion resistance is not as good as glass, it can be treated with an anti-wear coating to improve its lifespan. Additionally, CR39 resin lenses are suitable for situations requiring lightweight comfort, impact resistance, high light transmittance, and aspheric lenses.

    What are Polarized Lenses?

Light travels in the form of waves, which means it vibrates. Normally, light vibrates in multiple directions. However, when light reflects off horizontal surfaces, it vibrates in only one direction-the horizontal direction. This process is called polarization. Since the light vibrates in only one direction, it becomes concentrated and directly enters the eyes. We refer to this concentrated light as "glare".

Polarized lenses contain a special chemical film that allows vertical light to pass through but blocks the horizontally light, eliminating the glare. They enable people to see more comfortably and clearly in bright and reflective conditions.

    Product Advantages

Good optical performance: High light transmittance, Abbe number of 58-59, with very little dispersion.

Lightweight: Density of 1.32, which is half that of glass, making it more comfortable to wear.

Enhanced Clarity: The lenses filter out glare. Without the glare, we can see more clearly. We can experience improved visual clarity, better contrast, and sharper details.

Easy to dye: Can be easily processed into various colors by optometrists.
